Unmapped series

Unmapped is a series of abstract paintings exploring the tension between order and chaos. Inspired by the visual language of topographic maps and geometric forms, each piece navigates imagined terrains where structure dissolves into spontaneity. Layered marks, shifting lines, and bold shapes invite the viewer to traverse landscapes that are both familiar and unknowable—maps not of places, but of perception.

Echoes in Ultramarine

Acrylics on canvas

Inspired by aerial perspectives of the ocean, this abstract work explores the visual language of water—its rhythms, depths, and shifting boundaries. Layers of vibrant ultramarine evoke the vastness of open sea, where currents trace invisible paths and light refracts in constant motion.

Drawing from satellite imagery and oceanographic maps, the piece blurs the line between representation and abstraction. It invites viewers to contemplate the ocean not just as a physical entity, but as a dynamic system shaped by time, movement, and perception.

Part of an ongoing series investigating the intersection of mapping, climate, and imagination.

Electric Night Sky

Quadriptych

Inspired by the energy of the cosmos—where darkness becomes a stage for light. This painting captures the feeling of looking up into an endless black horizon and sensing something alive moving within it. Bright, electric forms pulse at the center, suggesting distant galaxies, charged atmospheres, and the quiet electricity that runs through the universe.

Perception – Boundaries – Transformation

Unmapped II

Acrylic and oil on canvas

150 x 100 cm

£795

Abstract piece inspired by NASA satellite imagery. This work draws on the glacial landscapes of Patagonia, Chile, where ASTER data is used to track the impact of climate change. From above, natural formations become patterns, and environmental shifts blur into abstraction.

Layered forms and fluid boundaries echo the fragility of shrinking glaciers, capturing the tension between natural transformation and human intervention. It’s a meditation on how science, mapping, and imagination shape our understanding of a world in flux.

Topographies of Thought

The piece explores the intersection between the chaotic, unpredictable forces of nature and the human impulse to impose order and control. Layered forms and fragmented patterns evoke shifting landscapes shaped by both natural turbulence and constructed logic. The painting becomes a metaphorical map of the mind—where instinct collides with intention, and wild terrain resists the boundaries we try to draw around it.

This piece captures an imagined vision of Earth as seen from space—vivid, abstracted, and dreamlike. It evokes a sense of distance and wonder, offering glimpses of a world both awe-inspiring and ephemeral.

Unmapped reflects the raw, untamed power of nature—vast, shifting, and beyond human control. Inspired by natural forces that shape the Earth without permission or pause, this work evokes landscapes that resist boundaries and defy containment.

Seascapes series

In these series my palette is dominated by soft pastels and bursts of vivid hues, inspired by spring flowers and coastal sunlight. I explore the interplay of warm and cool tones—sun-bleached sand against deep blue waves or soft pink blossoms against a turquoise sky.

Travel Memories

100 x 50cm

oil on canvas

£985

The beach scene is reduced to its most essential forms: a curved horizon, a rectangle of sea, a golden arc of sand and experimented with texture and layering to evoke the feeling of water, wind, and shifting dunes. The seascape incorporates patterns inspired by Portuguese tiles (azulejos) and natural coastal elements like shells and waves.

In this work a collage-like approach, was used to merge colors and simplified forms that evoke the essence of places I've visited.
